Roku Gin x Vogue 2022

ollowing a successful campaign last year, Roku Gin further highlights the strong cultural bridge between Japan and Germany. Ikebana artist Akiko Kaneko and Michelin-starred chef Yoshizumi Nagaya become cultural ambassadors, introducing Vogue readers to the Shun principle.

The Concept

The features place the Japanese Shun principle at the center: the art of harvesting and processing ingredients at their peak ripeness. This concept is also deeply embedded in the philosophy of the premium gin, Roku Gin.

Two extensive stories introduce representatives of the Shun principle: Japanese top chef Yoshizumi Nagaya from Düsseldorf and Ikebana artist and teacher Akiko Kaneko, who resides in Bonn. Their stories convey Japanese culture and key aspects of the Shun idea, bringing Roku Gin's claim—"The Best of Every Season"—to life. VOGUE was chosen as a partner that perfectly aligns with the brand's premium positioning.

Roku Gin x Vogue 2021

Roku Gin features an artist who is culturally at home in both Japan and Germany. What could be more fitting for the readership of German Vogue than an advertorial that bridges modern artistic culture with the traditional craft culture of Japanese gin?

The Concept

The ceramic artist Jimu Kobayashi lives and works in Düsseldorf and is well-acquainted with the cultural similarities as well as the differences between Japan and Germany. Together with Roku Gin, we featured him in Vogue Germany, sharing his thoughts on art, culture, craftsmanship, and, of course, gin with the readers.

Jimu embraced the craftsmanship concept and interpreted the various botanicals from Roku Gin through ceramics. His artworks were showcased in a still-life shoot featuring the Roku Gin bottle.
